Distance students attend contacts sessions in the college three times in a year for 10 days at each contact, meaning they have 30 days with lecturers in a year. This is not enough at all because several issues distance students face are not addressed. One alternative to resolving the challenges distance education students face is through learner support. Mufulira College of Education therefore embarked on the first learner support for September to December 2010. Learner Support is a form of academic and social support offered to students beyond their residential contacts with lecturers.
